LG Washer Error Codes

Applies to all LG washer models — WM front-load, WT top-load, WashTower, and TwinWash series.

LE

Motor Error

What it means: The drum motor is overloaded or the rotor is locked and can't turn.

Common causes: Worn motor rotor or stator, overloaded drum, foreign object jamming the drum.

What we do: Inspect the motor assembly, rotor, and stator — replace the faulty component. One of the most common LG washer calls we get in Toronto.

OE

Drain Error

What it means: The washer cannot drain water after the wash cycle.

Common causes: Clogged drain filter, blocked drain pump, kinked or blocked drain hose.

What we do: Clear the drain filter and hose, or replace the drain pump. Water standing in the drum — gone same day.

UE / uE

Unbalanced Load

What it means: uE (lowercase) = redistribute the load and retry. UE (uppercase) = mechanical imbalance detected.

Common causes: Worn suspension springs, damaged shock absorbers, overloaded drum.

What we do: Inspect suspension components and replace worn springs or shock absorbers. We carry LG suspension parts on the truck.

IE

Water Inlet Error

What it means: The washer isn't getting enough water to fill within the expected time.

Common causes: Closed water tap, kinked inlet hose, blocked inlet screen, faulty water inlet valve.

What we do: Check the supply, clean the inlet screen, test and replace the water inlet valve if needed.

DE / dE1 / dE2

Door Error

What it means: The door isn't closing or the door latch isn't engaging properly.

Common causes: Worn door latch, damaged door hook, failed door lock assembly.

What we do: Replace the door latch or lock module. Quick same-day repair on all LG WM series models.

tE / tE1

Thermistor Error

What it means: The water temperature sensor is reading incorrectly or has failed.

Common causes: Faulty thermistor, wiring fault to the sensor.

What we do: Replace the thermistor — straightforward same-day fix. Wash cycles complete normally after.

FE

Overflow Error

What it means: Too much water has entered the drum — overflow risk.

Common causes: Water inlet valve stuck in the open position.

What we do: Replace the water inlet valve immediately to stop overflow and prevent floor damage.

PF

Power Failure

What it means: A power interruption occurred mid-cycle. The machine paused to protect the load.

Common causes: Power outage, tripped breaker, faulty outlet.

What we do: Press Start/Pause to resume. If PF appears repeatedly with no power issue, the control board may need attention.

CL

Child Lock Active

What it means: Child lock is on — buttons are disabled. This is not a fault code.

Common causes: Child lock accidentally activated.

What we do: Hold the Child Lock button (or combination) for 3 seconds to deactivate. Check your model's manual for the exact button combo.

LG Dryer Error Codes

Applies to LG DLE (electric), DLG (gas), WashTower dryer, and DLHC heat pump dryer series.

d80 / d90 / d95

Vent Blockage

What it means: The dryer vent is 80%, 90%, or 95% blocked. This is the most common LG dryer error code we see in Toronto.

Common causes: Lint buildup in the vent duct, crushed or kinked vent hose, bird nest in exterior vent cap.

What we do: Clean the full vent run from dryer to exterior cap, restore proper airflow, and test before leaving. A blocked vent is also a fire hazard — don't ignore this code.

tE1 / tE2 / tE3

Thermistor Error

What it means: A temperature sensor in the dryer is reading incorrectly or has failed.

Common causes: Failed thermistor, wiring fault, extreme overheating that damaged the sensor.

What we do: Replace the faulty thermistor and check the heating circuit. Clothes stop taking forever to dry after this fix.

E3

Exhaust Thermistor

What it means: The exhaust temperature sensor has failed. Usually related to a blocked vent overheating the sensor.

Common causes: Blocked dryer vent causing overheating, failed thermistor.

What we do: Clean the vent first, then replace the exhaust thermistor if it was damaged by overheating.

HS

Humidity Sensor Error

What it means: The moisture sensor bars inside the drum aren't reading correctly, so auto-dry cycles run too long or stop too early.

Common causes: Dryer sheet residue coating the sensor bars, failed sensor.

What we do: Clean the sensor bars with rubbing alcohol first. If the fault persists, we replace the moisture sensor assembly.

PS

Power Supply Error

What it means: The dryer is detecting a voltage issue — usually seen on electric dryers.

Common causes: Only one leg of the 240V supply reaching the dryer (blown breaker fuse), faulty outlet.

What we do: Check the breaker and outlet first. If power supply is fine, the control board may need replacement.

CL

Child Lock Active

What it means: Child lock is on — panel buttons are disabled. Not a fault.

Common causes: Child lock accidentally activated.

What we do: Hold the Child Lock button for 3 seconds to deactivate. If it won't deactivate, the control panel may need service.

LG Refrigerator Error Codes

Applies to LG French door, side-by-side, bottom freezer, and InstaView fridge series.

Er IF

Ice Maker Fan Error

What it means: The ice maker fan has stopped or is blocked by ice buildup around the fan motor.

Common causes: Ice buildup blocking the fan, failed ice maker fan motor.

What we do: Defrost the ice maker compartment, clear the blockage, and replace the fan motor if needed. Very common LG fridge call.

Er FF

Freezer Fan Error

What it means: The freezer evaporator fan motor has failed. Cold air stops circulating — both freezer and fridge sections warm up.

Common causes: Failed freezer fan motor, ice blockage around the fan.

What we do: Defrost and replace the freezer fan motor — one of our most frequent LG fridge repairs in Toronto.

Er CF

Condenser Fan Error

What it means: The condenser fan at the back of the fridge has stopped. The compressor overheats and cooling fails.

Common causes: Failed condenser fan motor, debris blocking the fan blade.

What we do: Clear any debris and replace the condenser fan motor. Fridge resumes normal cooling after repair.

Er dH

Defrost Heater Error

What it means: The defrost heater has burned out, causing heavy ice buildup on the evaporator coils that blocks airflow.

Common causes: Failed defrost heater element, faulty defrost thermostat.

What we do: Replace the defrost heater and thermostat, manually defrost the coils, and confirm the defrost cycle is running correctly before we leave.

Er CO

Compressor Error

What it means: The compressor is not operating correctly. Very common on LG French door fridges with Linear Compressor technology.

Common causes: Failed Linear Compressor, faulty start relay, control board issue.

What we do: Full compressor diagnostic — test the relay and board first before recommending compressor replacement. Honest assessment upfront.

Er FS

Freezer Sensor Error

What it means: The freezer temperature sensor (thermistor) has failed and is giving incorrect readings.

Common causes: Faulty thermistor, wiring fault.

What we do: Replace the freezer thermistor — a straightforward same-day fix that restores proper temperature control.

Er IS

Ice Maker Sensor Error

What it means: The ice maker temperature sensor has failed, stopping ice production.

Common causes: Failed ice maker thermistor.

What we do: Replace the ice maker sensor. If the full ice maker assembly has failed, we replace the whole unit — LG ice maker assemblies kept on the truck.

No Code

Fridge Not Cooling

What it means: The fridge stops cooling without displaying any error code.

Common causes: LG Linear Compressor failure (very common), failed start relay, frozen evaporator coil, sealed system issue.

What we do: Full diagnostic — we test the compressor, relay, coils, and fans. LG Linear Compressor failures don't always throw a code — no code doesn't mean no fix.

LG Dishwasher Error Codes

Applies to LG LDP and LDT dishwasher series including QuadWash and TrueSteam models.

OE

Drain Error

What it means: The dishwasher cannot drain water at the end of the cycle.

Common causes: Clogged filter, blocked drain hose, failed drain pump.

What we do: Clear the filter and hose, or replace the drain pump. Water standing in the bottom — gone after this repair.

IE

Water Supply Error

What it means: The dishwasher isn't filling with water within the expected time.

Common causes: Closed shutoff valve, faulty water inlet valve, low water pressure.

What we do: Verify the shutoff valve is open, test the inlet valve, replace it if faulty.

LE

Motor Error

What it means: The wash motor has stopped or is drawing too much current.

Common causes: Failed wash motor, foreign object jamming the pump impeller.

What we do: Clear any debris from the pump, test the motor, and replace if needed. Dishes come out clean again.

FE

Overflow Error

What it means: The float switch has detected too much water — overflow risk.

Common causes: Float switch stuck, water inlet valve stuck open.

What we do: Replace the faulty inlet valve or float switch to prevent water damage to your kitchen floor.

HE

Heating Error

What it means: The water isn't reaching the correct temperature for proper cleaning or sanitizing.

Common causes: Failed heating element, faulty thermistor.

What we do: Replace the heater or thermistor and confirm wash temperature reaches the correct level before completing the repair.

AE

Leak Detected

What it means: The flood sensor in the base of the dishwasher has detected water.

Common causes: Worn door seal, loose hose connection, leaking pump or sump.

What we do: Find and fix the leak source — door seal, hose, or pump — before water damages your subfloor.
