Bosch dishwasher showing E24 or sitting in standing water? We diagnose and fix Bosch drain faults same day — clogged filters, failed drain pumps, E24, E15 AquaStop, and E09. $95 flat diagnostic, Bosch parts on the truck, 6-month warranty.
A Bosch dishwasher sitting in standing water at the end of a cycle — or throwing an E24 error — is one of the most common Bosch repair calls we get in Toronto. In most cases it's a blocked filter, a failed drain pump, or a kinked drain hose. We Fix It Appliances carries Bosch dishwasher drain parts on the truck and fixes most drain faults in a single same-day visit.
When a Bosch dishwasher runs a full cycle but leaves water sitting at the bottom of the tub, the drain system has failed somewhere between the pump and the household drain connection. Bosch dishwashers are particularly well-engineered, which means the fault is usually in one specific, fixable component — not the whole machine.
E24 Error Code: If your Bosch is displaying E24, that means the control board detected that the drain pump ran but water didn't evacuate in time. Don't ignore it — E24 won't clear on its own and every subsequent cycle will fail the same way. The cause is almost always mechanical (clog or failed pump), not electrical.
Bosch dishwashers use a two-part manual filter — a mesh cylinder and a flat filter plate — at the bottom of the tub. Unlike older dishwashers with self-cleaning grinders, Bosch filters need to be cleaned by hand every 1–2 months. A filter packed with food debris restricts water flow into the drain pump, causing standing water and E24. This is the first thing we check and the first thing you should check at home. It costs nothing to clean and fixes E24 in roughly 20% of cases.
The drain pump is the motor that pushes water from the tub sump through the drain hose and out to your plumbing. When the impeller inside wears out, the motor burns out, or debris jams the pump body, it stops moving water — and E24 is the result. A failed drain pump is the most common cause of E24 after filter cleaning doesn't solve the problem. We carry Bosch drain pumps on the truck and replace them in a single visit.
The drain hose runs from the pump, up to a high loop or air gap, and then down to your garbage disposal or drain connection under the sink. If this hose gets kinked when the dishwasher is pushed back, crushed by something stored under the sink, or blocked by a grease or food buildup internally, water can't exit. Pull the dishwasher out slightly and trace the hose end to end during diagnosis.
Bosch dishwashers display E-codes (sometimes shown as F-codes on older models) when a fault is detected. Here are the three most common codes related to draining and water issues:
The most common Bosch error code. Water was not evacuated during the drain cycle within the expected time window. Start by cleaning the filter assembly. If E24 returns, the drain pump, drain hose, or garbage disposal connection is the culprit. We diagnose the exact cause and fix it same day.
Water has reached the base tray and tripped the flood sensor. The dishwasher will not operate until the base is drained and the leak is repaired. Tilting the machine forward 45° drains the tray temporarily, but E15 will recur unless the source of the leak (door seal, hose fitting, pump housing) is identified and fixed. Do not attempt to bypass AquaStop.
The flow-through heater has failed. Without proper water heating, cycles can't complete correctly and may result in partial draining as a secondary effect. E09 requires testing and replacement of the heating element and its associated thermal fuse and wiring. It's a separate repair from E24 but sometimes appears alongside it.
Two things you can check yourself in under 10 minutes that fix E24 in roughly 20% of cases:
If those don't fix it, the drain pump has failed or there's a deeper obstruction — neither of which can be safely cleared without disassembling the machine. Call 647-584-1289 and we can usually be there the same day.
We fix drain faults on all Bosch dishwasher series — 100, 300, 500, 800, and Benchmark.

SHPM88Z75N, SHPM98Y55N, SHPM88Z55N. Premium Bosch with MyWay rack. Same drain system as the 500 series — we carry the same parts.
SHV87PZ83N (Benchmark fully integrated) and SHE3AR75UC (100 Series). Full range of Bosch dishwasher drain and heating repairs.
We stock Bosch drain pumps, door gaskets, and AquaStop components for the most common GTA dishwasher models. Most E24 repairs are completed in one visit without a return trip.
E24 after a clogged filter is cleaned means the pump has likely been running dry and is now damaged. We don't just clear the code — we diagnose what actually failed and fix that.
If the same drain problem returns within 6 months of our repair, we come back and fix it at no charge. We stand behind our work on every Bosch repair.
The most common causes are a clogged filter (clean it first — it fixes E24 roughly 20% of the time), a failed drain pump, a kinked or blocked drain hose, or a blocked garbage disposal connection. If you're seeing E24, that's Bosch's drain fault code and it confirms the drain cycle failed. We carry drain pumps on the truck and fix most cases same day.
E24 means Bosch's drain cycle failed — the pump ran but didn't successfully evacuate the water. Start by cleaning the filter at the bottom of the tub. If E24 persists, the drain pump, hose, or disposal connection is the problem. Call us for a same-day diagnosis — 647-584-1289.
E15 means the AquaStop flood sensor in the base of the machine has been triggered by water reaching the base tray. It's a serious fault — there's a leak somewhere inside the machine that needs to be identified and fixed. Don't try to bypass the sensor. Call us and we'll find the source of the leak and repair it safely.
You can try cleaning the filter first — it's free and fixes E24 in about 1 in 5 cases. Also check the drain hose under the sink for kinks and make sure the garbage disposal knockout plug was removed at installation. If E24 returns after all of that, the drain pump needs professional replacement.
We charge a flat $95 diagnostic fee. If you proceed with the repair, that $95 is credited toward your total. You get a firm upfront quote before we start any work — no surprises on the bill.
Same-day or next-morning in most cases. Call 647-584-1289 before noon and we can usually have a technician at your home the same day across Toronto and the GTA.
Almost always yes. Bosch dishwashers are high-quality machines built to last 12–15 years. A drain pump replacement is one of the least expensive dishwasher repairs. If your Bosch is under 10 years old, repair is the better financial decision compared to a $1,200+ replacement.
